RituOWL

A sustainable soft good designed around the theme of mobility. RituOWL focuses on bringing comfort to children with mobile lifestyles (foster kids, army children, divorced parents, etc). By providing routine in the form of a comfort object, RituOWL is a physical substitute for the emotional stability associated with a permanent lifestyle.

When collapsed, RituOWL serves as a pillow that can be taken from place to place. It unfolds to reveal 5 sensory owls that can be placed around the room by the child, giving them a sense of security through setting up their own environment. Finally the child folds up RituOWL according to an instructive quilting pattern, enhancing their feeling of routine and habit. RituOWL was designed for children ages 2-5 because this is when fears develop and habit-forming is at its strongest.
